Comments made on this blog first end up in the moderation cue and show up only if I approve them. This is usually within a day or two, a month at the most. Do not double post, but have a little patience. I have a life besides my internet activism that I give priority to.
I, Feminist at sea, am the owner of this blog. As the owner I reserve the right to delete comments as I see fit. This is not open to discussion. This is my blog and it is not a free for all, public debate forum. That’s what public fora are for. If you are concerned about having your “freedom of expression” impeded, then I invite you to create your own blog. If you do this on WordPress it doesn’t have to cost you a cent and if you don’t like WordPress, there are other blog hosting sites that offer the same service. If you were smart enough to have found my blog I am sure that you are smart enough to find free blog hosting sites.
I will put down a few points here that you should avoid, if you don’t want to have your comments deleted:
- Don’t tell me that I don’t know what I feminism is or that I don’t have as good a grasp of it as some other persons you know or that I have “missed the point”. I have been a feminist for years and I devote a great deal of my time to reading, researching and debating feminism with other feminists. All my views that I express here on this blog have been inspired by the radical feminist movement. In all this time I have never accused any woman, whether feminist or not, of not knowing what feminism is. In all this time I have never been accused of not understanding feminism by another feminist. Who throws these accusations at me? Why, they are people who wouldn’t want to be caught dead associating with feminists and who take the easy route of anonymously posting comments on blog posts that took me a considerable time to write. I pour my knowledge of feminism in these posts, which has taken me years to acquire. Comments that contain this accusation will be deleted without further ado. I won’t even finish reading them.
- Complaining about deleted comments or making assumptions about my physical appearance, my personality or anything that is not related to the post you are commenting on will get your comment deleted.
- None of these posts are essays or (academic) articles. The reason I started this blog is to give myself a platform from which I can freely and publicly express myself. The posts are often written when I was I feeling particularly ranty. I never go back to remove spelling errors or errors in grammar, so don’t even bother pointing those out, unless you don’t understand what I have written and you would like an explanation. Whether I actually give you an explanation is solely my decision and, again, not up for debate.
- Furthermore, with the exception of the titles, I have clearly written each and every post as opinions and my point of view. I make liberal use of words such as “feel”, “think” and “find”. Many times I will even start a sentence with “in my opinion”. This clearly indicates that it is in fact my opinion. If you then still want to accuse me of lying or fudging the truth, don’t bother commenting either; instead learn how to read or get yourself a damn dictionary to learn the meaning of these words.
